Ed Murray PhD, Principal, Clean Tech Consulting

Combining innovative strategies, technical knowledge and management experience to deliver results has been Ed's signature during years in the high-tech and now clean-tech industries. For example, in less than three years, he drove a semiconductor line of business from zero to $200M a year.  In the last two years, he mentored and advised two clean-tech startups that won the prestigious Clean Tech Open competition for best new-company business plans.  

Ed's background spans research, development, marketing and general management including progressive responsibilities up to corporate vice president.  Leveraging advanced technical degrees, Ed has worked with a wide range of technologies. He pioneered pen-based data capture in Point-Of-Sale applications and laser-based remote sensing of air pollution, among other important breakthroughs. He has consulted or worked for start-ups up to Fortune 500 companies in technology, product definition, development and corporate strategy and has held leadership positions at several technology companies including SRI International, Inforite, KLA-Tencor, and PhotonDynamics.

Ed is a passionate advocate of metrics and financial analytics in corporate strategy, product development and investment decisions.   His mantra: “Measure first, then optimize.”

Ed earned  BS and MS engineering degrees from George Washington University and his PhD from Stanford University in engineering with emphasis in physics.  The depth and breadth of his technical education combined with a wide variety of management positions in different industries enables him to quickly grasp technologies and contribute solutions and enduring continuous improvement processes.
